Outdoor Project: Shed/Playhouse Part 5

This past weekend was a busy one working on the playhouse. The slide arrived on Tuesday and my hubby was very anxious to get it put together and on the playhouse. Saturday morning after breakfast he started putting it together. Little did he know it would take a couple of hours. At least he had a little help in the form of a 4 year old, 3 year old, and one year old.

 The girls enjoyed crawling through the tunnels as pieces were put together and rolling it back and forth with one of them in it.

 Late afternoon we finally got the slide attached and the hubby started on the railing of the deck.

 Sunday afternoon, the deck was finally finished and ready for the girls.

Sunday night the girls finally got a chance to try out the slide and the two older girls loved it. The oldest slid down yelling, "This is incredible!" It made us laugh. 

We are getting much closer to completion. The inside still needs a little more work. Next week we are hoping to be able to paint and I will be taking the girls to pick fabric for curtains.

Summer Project Shed/Playhouse Part 4

It's been awhile since I updated the progress on the shed. The progress is slow now since my husband can pick up Saturdays here and there. He has also needed to do more prep work, like painting the trim before it on.

The past month he has wired it for power, started on the outside trim, insulated the upstairs, and sheet rocked the upstairs.

The next steps are to mud and paint the upstairs, finish the trim on the outside, and start on the deck.

Summer Project Shed/Playhouse Part 3

Well my husband was busy this weekend. We had beautiful weather, despite having our backyard looking like a swap. The back few feet has standing water, it smells like the lake in August (it stinks!). 

Saturday he was busy working on the steps to get to the top level. He still has to put a railing up but the girls can go up and down much easier.

Sunday after church, my husband picked up paint for the outside. While the two older ones were at grandma's and grandpa's and the youngest taking a nap, we painted the outside. It went on fast and dried fast. Then my husband put in the windows. It's starting to look pretty nice. 

He is hoping to shingle the roof next weekend. All he has left is to sheetrock the inside, put up trim inside and out, and finish the deck on the top level. So much for this being a summer long project. I'm going to have to think of something to keep him busy for the second half of the summer.

Summer Project Shed/Playhouse Part 2

Well the weekend was wonderful, allowing my husband to finally get the shed out of our garage and start assembling it outside. He has been very eager to get this started.

Our yard was very wet creating a little set back in creating the base. What my husband dug out on Thursday was flooded on Friday. After he was able to get that drained he used the help of the girls to fill in with sand under the cement blocks.

 Saturday my brother came over to help get the sides and roof on.

 There it is after one weekend of working hard, getting it together. My husband is very proud as he should be. The girls are getting super excited about getting a playhouse. It will be very cool once it is finished. We are talking now about putting a slide on the deck part. We will see how it will end up.

Summer Project: Shed/Playhouse

Here's a preview of the storage shed and playhouse my husband is building. There will be two levels. The bottom will be the storage shed, housing mostly toys for the girls. The top level will be the play house with a small deck.

Currently he is putting together the walls in the garage. It is too wet to start outside since we seem to be getting a lot of rain and snow in April. Hopefully in a couple weeks it will be dry enough to assemble outside.
